Project summary
We developed a novel and nutritious seaweed material for the garden industry, designed to be pulp formed in a mass-manufacturing setting today. Using both farmed seaweed and waste from the seaweed extraction industry as nutritional content, we tweaked the inputs to hit the nutritional targets desired for seed starting. We then implemented this material into a market-ready product idea, designed to suit an existing brand and product strategy.
Background
Ocean Made makes smarter use of what the ocean offers, upcycling seaweed and marine waste into consumer products for a sustainable future on earth.

StudyKelp is abundant and full of nutrients that support plant life on land, while sequestering carbon in the ocean. The nutritional content of kelp is already used in agricultural settings to boost soil content and plant growth. Can we harness the benefits of kelp into a gardening product suitable for the home gardener?
